Anet lets QQing dictate way to many changes with this game, maybe they should let QQing develop GW2 that way we can get it over with at the start.

Yeah. UB use goes in inverse proportion to your skill, and correlates neck-and-neck with your laziness.
People use it 1. Because they haven't the skill to get through the area, or they don't have the patience to wait for a time when enough friends/guildies/alliance members can get together to do it. 2. They just want to get in bad pugs and farm the snot out of an area.
Suck it up, Buttercups!

Wow.. People bitching because an incrediably overpowered skill is still overpowered, it just now makes sense (bear mauling from a distance... wha?).
UB is still really good and overpowered. Changing from ranged to touch isn't that big of a deal. Now you might need a speed boost consumable, but that's about it.

Very well said.
Ursan is still a ridiculous amount of armor ignoring damage, it simply cant be used at caster range anymore. IMO, making it armor-affected and/or toning the damage down a bit would have been an alternative, but at least now you have to get in melee range.
cliff notes:
anet tries a mild nerf for once. sure wish they would've tried that with LoD.
ursan still way overpowered.
all users go to guru and set up a QQ thread.
remains to be seen how long it will last till the flaming gets thread closed.
*waits to see line of QQers decend*

hah, as far as the button mashing and all that good stuff, maybe I'm just not doing it right. It seems like once you have any skills bar, well, it's just button mashing. Of course, it's all in the timing, which is the same for ursan.
As far as "not much change"... let's see AL 60 plus a bit in touch range... nope, that's a pretty big impact for casters who use this.
As far as normal game use, ursan with H/H is a fine complement but in no way the sole skill one would use to maximum effect. As a mesmer, I soften em up, go ursan, then switch back. I've got some hidden energy (via wpn switching), so I'm right back in action. But now, that sort of thing is out if I have to get in melee range.

Me too, in fact I always found it irritating as the other main skill is centered around the caster. Never really understood why it was ranged to begin with and never really understood why so many people whined about it either. I always felt (and still do) that other PvE only skills are WAY more imbalanced than this (Pain Inverter anyone? It makes any situation where a monster would normally party wipe you dead with one skill and one cast - even at rank 1). Even then I don't want those skills nerfed either - they all take about the same amount of c-spacing your way to victory.

This isn't even a nerf, it's just making the skill make some sense. Why the hell would you be able to bear maul at range? The level of complaining about such a minor alteration implies the PvE community is even more cripplingly dependent on this ridiculous skill than I thought. By all means, nerf the stupid thing some more (nerf pain inverter while you're at it, actually), maybe people will think about what they put on their bar for a change.

I really question why they changed it this way. The ONLY possibly redeeming part of UB is that it allowed less popular classes get into pug groups. So anet nerfed that one benefit of letting mesmers, ritualists, ect into pugs while not doing anything to warriors/dervs/rangers using UB.

Well, I guess it makes the other attack skill easier to use if one is spam happy and (before the 'nerf'), didn't care whether they had any foes adjacent to them or not.

Yeah, the amount of QQing over such a minor change is... disturbing.

We traveled deep into the fires of The Foundry of Failed Creations, where Ursan Blessing was forged, the one place it could be destroyed.
— ArenaNet! Cast it into the fire! Destroy it!
— No.
— ArenaNeeet!
ArenaNet kept Ursan Blessing. It should have ended that day, but evil was allowed to endure.

You know, people DID play PvE in a time before UB existed. A staggering realization, I know... however it seems most of the QQers have forgotten this, especially since UB is still ridiculously overpowered even for a PvE skill. I fail to see how this change does anything except make the skill follow logic.
